Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:
To provide legal opinion to user departments on techno-commercial and legal HR/IR issues and organize defence of the Company’s legal interests in courts of law.

REPORTS TO:
This position will report to Managing Director & CEO
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pursue as required cases of litigation involving the Company.
  • Facilitate access of legal counsel to functional heads for organizing defence of the Company in litigation case. Coordinate the organization of defense of the Company’s legal interests through legal advisors and advocates.
  • Responsible to vet all legal contracts of the Company, examine and comment on drafts of proposed MOUs, contracts, agreements, consents, terms of engagement, purchase and service orders, and contracts for Project services.
  • Advise the Company on legal compliance issues. Pursue arbitration cases within guidelines provided by the Managing Director & CEO.
  • Interface and negotiate with legal representatives of customers, business associates, Government, trade bodies, and law enforcement agencies to conclude and execute agreements that are concise, clear, equitable, and adequately cover foreseeable grounds for dispute. Conduct legal analyses, view technical reports, and recommend course of action on proposed changes in laws and regulations.
  • Review and advise the Managing Director & CEO on public statements and government policy from legal standpoint. Review and comment on case papers involving PRL, and obtain (as focal point) user’s inputs to clarify PRL’s points of view and legal position particularly with respect to HR issues and encroachments of PRL property and rights of way.
