Job Description
and in close collaboration with FAO programme and project staff – both within the Communications Team as well as other sections the Communication officer will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Introduce new and creative approaches to improve the internal and external communication at FAO Representation, Field Offices, and Projects; including improving communications between different sections/ departments and projects for synergizing objectives and goals;
- Prepare human interest/success stories around FAO’s work in Pakistan;
- Prepare short documentaries including story board, script and voice over
- Prepare multipurpose brochures and banners for FAO Pakistan;
- Monitor local media reports both print and electronic and update FAO management about the latest developments in areas related to FAO’s work in the country.
- Develop quarterly FAO Newsletter for wide dissemination amongst the internal and external stakeholders;
- Contribute to the development of communication tools such as the publicity materials and products in close association with the multimedia artist/graphic designer (e.g. briefs, talking points, brochures, posters, power-point presentations etc), to enhance the quality and outreach of FAO programme visibility and messaging to a diverse range of stakeholders, including general public, government of Pakistan, media, FAO headquarter and Regional office;
- Contribute to the development and regular updating of the FAO Pakistan web pages; including the generation of content and uploading a range of public domain publications (e.g. assessment reports, agriculture guidelines) and multimedia products, endorsed by AFAOR (Programme), which reflect FAO Programme activities, priorities and areas of expertise;
- Familiarize him/herself with project-specific visibility and branding requirements;
- Coordinate and organize FAO events;
- Responsible for the design, advice and supervision of visibility plans as per project requirements;
- Build capacity of FAO staff to take good photographs/ collect success stories and prepare brief news releases
