Organizational Context
While Balochistan has some important natural resources such as minerals, horticulture, livestock and fisheries, progress has been halted due to the many constraints which bind the Province including security concerns, endemic poverty, water constraints, low population density weak private sector and institutions and low skilled manpower. Over 52% off all households are living under the poverty line and of these three quarters of all of these households live in rural areas. The level of school participation in Balochistan is significantly less than in other areas, and is particularly low for girls: only 20% of women ever attend school and only 13% have ever completed primary level education or ahead. Key growth priorities of inclusive, sustainable growth and employment creation must be coupled with increased community participation and organization in the development of the Province to help combat the rise of insurgency. UNDP has currently four cross-sector initiatives in the Province and in the areas of Governance, Environment, Conflict Prevention and Recovery and InclusiveGrowth. Under the guidance of the UNDP Provincial Representative, the Driver will support the implementation of the UNDP Programme in Balochistan and act as transportation focal point for Balochistan.
Summary of Key Functions:

• Provision of reliable and secure driving services
• Proper use of vehicle
• Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle
• Availability of documents/ supplies

1. Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.

2. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

3. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.

4. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts.

5. Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents

Impact of Results
The key results have an impact on the accurate, safe and timely execution of the CO services.

Qualification & Experience

• Secondary Education. Valid Driver’s license.

• 2 Years (2 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair. Experience of driving armored vehicle and with international or high level missions is highly desirable.Fluency in the languageof the duty station, knowledge of The UN language of the duty station.)
